It has been a long time since I got my hands on an OESQ Four Roses Single Barrel bottling. This one is ten years old to boot and is at a hefty 114.2 proof. OESQ is the low rye floral yeast recipe of Four Roses. While OESK, with its spicy vanilla yeast, is probably my favorite I really like OESQ as well.
Color is a lovely amber. On the swirl is a thin film but gravity defying thick legs. On the nose are sweet floral notes with a hint of cinnamon. On the palate, sweet vanilla, a load of cinnamon, and if juicy fruit was an actual fruit instead of a gum that is there. On the finish, the cinnamon becomes candy like complemented by drying oak. The rye is undetectable and fans of wheated bourbon would really like this.
Really a great bottling picked by the New Orleans Bourbon Festival.
